The Gentle Living Story
The Gentle Living was born from my own search for a different way of being.
Like many women, I wear a lot of hats. I'm a mum, a construction project manager, a holistic therapist, a Reiki Master, a creative soul, and someone who is still figuring life out as I go.
For a long time, I lived the way many of us do, rushing from one thing to the next, pushing through exhaustion, ignoring what my body was trying to tell me and believing that feeling overwhelmed was simply part of life.
In 2015, life brought me to my knees. I experienced heartbreak, lost my beloved dog of eighteen years, and then lost my dad. Looking back, I can see I was doing my best to navigate grief, but somewhere along the way I lost connection with myself.
Then life began gently guiding me in a different direction.
Becoming a mum changed how I viewed health, wellbeing, and what really mattered. Instead of searching for quick fixes, I became curious. I started spending more time in nature and noticed how much calmer my mind felt when I was outside amongst the trees, listening to birdsong, feeling the sun on my face, or simply sitting quietly by the water.
I also began paying attention to what I was putting into my body. I found that highly processed foods, constant caffeine, and the fast-paced lifestyle I had been living weren't helping me feel my best. The more I nourished myself with real food, natural supplements, and simple daily habits, the more I realised that our bodies are incredibly intelligent when we learn to listen to them.
My journey led me to Reiki, energy work, meditation, breathwork, cacao ceremonies, and holistic therapies. What fascinated me most was discovering how extraordinary human beings really are. Our bodies are constantly working to heal, adapt, communicate, and restore balance. Sometimes we simply need to create the space to hear what they're trying to tell us.
Creativity has become one of my favourite forms of self-care. When life feels busy and my mind is racing, there's something incredibly calming about working with my hands. Whether I'm upcycling an old piece of furniture, sanding and shaping timber, or creating handmade homewares, making jewellery it allows me to slow down, switch off from the noise, and be fully present in the moment.
I also love that creativity and sustainability can go hand in hand. There's something special about taking a forgotten item and giving it a new purpose, or transforming a simple piece of wood into something beautiful and useful. In a world that often encourages us to buy more and throw things away, I find joy in creating, repairing, reusing, and appreciating what we already have.
I still experience anxiety. I still have days when my mind races. I still get overwhelmed, and my life certainly isn't perfect.
But now I know how important it is to pause.
The Gentle Living isn't about perfection, and it's not about rejecting modern life. It's about finding a gentler way to move through it.
It's a reflection of everything that has supported me along the way. Nature, holistic wellbeing, Reiki, nourishing supplements and superfoods, creativity, sustainability, animals, handmade crafts, upcycled treasures, learning new skills, simple rituals, and mindful living.
My hope is that this space inspires you to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and discover the small things that help you feel more grounded, nourished, and alive.
Because sometimes healing isn't about becoming someone new.
